This delightful parody of the fairy tale, "Goldilocks and the 3 Bears," was written and illustrated by a talented class of 7th graders in Austin, Texas.

The story emerged during a lesson in which students were analyzing the impact of setting on the plot of a story. When asked to create a new setting for the familiar "Goldilocks" story, one group chose a computer, in which Goldilox (spelling change intentional) was an evil virus that vandalized the humble computer inhabited by the Byte family-Megabyte, Gigabyte, and Nanobyte-while they were out exploring on Google.

When a successful young entrepreneur visited this 7th grade class, he challenged them to publish and sell a children's book. With the "Goldilox and the 3 Bytes" story already inspired, members of the class polished the story and brought the characters to life with watercolor illustrations. The project was managed by a class-elected CEO and other leaders who created a website, a documentary about the project, and a plethera of social media marketing strategies.

Self-branded "7D Ink," the 7th graders are planning a sequel to this whimsical parody that introduces the reader to the tech saavy Goldilox. See what will happen next, after the computer mayhem she caused in "Goldilox and the 3 Bytes!"
