This series of books contains some short games and sections of games which all contain examples of chess disasters.
They were taken from actual games which were played by different people at my chess club. However, I’ve illustrated them all using a fictitious character; an obnoxious man who I’ve called Ivor Lograde.
Ivor’s a nasty piece of work who looks down his nose at everyone he plays, believing them to be far beneath his own standard. His grade will never improve because he doesn’t ever learn from his mistakes. However, we can learn from his mistakes!
The mistakes are all seen from Ivor’s viewpoint and you’ll be able to follow his faulty thought processes through some of these games.
He’s so awful I hope you find him funny but the underlying dire warnings about over-confidence and careless play are serious and you’ll do well to take them to heart.
