Each one of us has a child within us. A traumatized child learns to become a survivor. But just being a survivor- is not our true voice. That is the voice of a victim. I have created a safe place within the parameters of this story to help the reader process through 'God thoughts'. Looking back, I'm so glad I never quit! My anger would have robbed me of my healing. I began writing "Feathers" in allegorical form, the minute I got off the phone after confronting him. To call him, I had to go through a service for the deaf, and warned the operator about the subject matter. She translated my dialog so I could finally confront him, and find my true voice. That was decades ago. I hung up the phone and wrote the first seven chapters of "Feathers", my catharsis, and finally edited to help others heal from events too difficult to describe. The emotional baggage of pain, anger, resentment, rejection, and bitterness became her identity. God offers her the opportunity to change all that. When she finally agrees to go on the journey, almost immediately God re-names her-changing her core identity. The story, written into a world of birds, makes a safe place for the reader. God invites the main character on a healing journey- to fly in the Holy Winds. My story might be similar to ‘your story’ if you have struggled with your relationship with God. If you have survived and struggled with the "why", or if you still have doubts. “Feathers” is about survival in a Family who fails to love. But it doesn’t end there. It’s also about a God, Whose love takes over, when the family's love fails. This is my story. After decades of nightmares and anguish, I wrote it in spite of my brokenness. "Feathers" waited years for me to heal enough, so I could edit it. Years ago, was written raw, and I didn't alter that part of it because I want people who have deep inner wounds to be able to identify. God is still using this book to continue a deeper work in my heart. For years, I have written (and recorded) inspired songs and poems to express my love and faith toward God. Through writing, I found my true voice. I have traveled in past years singing, and sharing God's Love... telling bits of my story, between songs. In 2008, a car accident changed all that. I died and came back, and my upper singing range was gone when I left the hospital a month later. 'Feathers Healing Journal' (about to be released) with life questions, scriptures and prompts to help you work through obstacles in your heart that have never been resolved. Her talents and passion bring joy to others. She learns of the One Who took all of her guilt, anger, bitterness, and unforgiveness upon Himself, so she could be set free. Squeaky goes from brokenness to becoming a Sound Mind, a Healed Heart, and eventually a Light in the Darkness for others. God's goal is that she would fly in the Holy Winds, unencumbered by the baggage she so desperately clings to for her identity. She believed a lie that she was bad, until God reveals His Truth- that she is and always has been Loved by Him. She spent her life clinging to her family heirlooms passed on by a family with "Cold Love"- who did not show her love. God sends the Silver Bird to accompany her on her healing Journey. Her husband, Diamond, also travels the journey, and they begin to grow and experience truth and new freedoms through God's unfailing love.
